The Cumming Harvest connects buyers with farmers and growers of very local, organically grown food, year-round through its website. Before food is listed on the website, founder, Suzanne Geddes visits all providers and assures customers that farmers have met strict sustainable and organic growing standards. Nearly all foods have been grown within a 100-mile radius of the Cumming Harvest.

Although most of the local farmers markets have closed for the year, access to locally grown food is not limited to the summer season. There are many wonderful crops that are harvested throughout the year in Georgia. The Cumming Harvest provides an outlet for buyers to connect with farmers all year long.

A Variety of Very Local, Organically Grown Foods All in One Place

Cumming Harvest members have more choice than they have with other direct-to-consumer local buying programs. Available items are listed by a variety of farmers and sold online. Farmers deliver to the Cumming Harvest for pick up by customers on Saturday mornings. Because numerous farmers list products on the website, buyers have access to a wide variety of local, organically grown and sustainable foods. A great selection of in-season fruits, vegetables and herbs, honey, cage free eggs, grain fed meats, chemical free chicken, and organic baked goods is available throughout the year – all in one place.

The Cumming Harvest charges a minimal annual membership fee to buyers. Unlike CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture), in which members pay a larger fee for a local farm’s projected harvest, members of the Cumming Harvest choose from currently available produce offered by many different farmers.

Local Farmers Love the Cumming Harvest

Growers can harvest and deliver only the food that has already been sold through orders on the website. They don’t have to sit for hours at traditional farmers markets or harvest and haul food that may go to waste.

Buyers enjoy year-round access to some of the freshest organically grown foods. Often their produce is still growing when they place their order directly with the grower on the Cumming Harvest website. Growers harvest, prepare and package orders within a day or two of delivery to the market on Saturday mornings, when customers pick them up.
